PT KAI launched the Djoko Kendil Heritage Class on December 14, 2025. This train carries a long history. Originally built in 1938 for the Java Nacht Express, the carriages now serve as KA Jaka Lalana on the Jakarta-Cianjur route. Special Demands of Railway Upholstery
Railway upholstery demands durability far beyond residential furniture. The five-hour journey between Gambir and Cianjur includes 17 stops. Passengers constantly board, sit, and exit. This movement creates continuous friction. Indonesia’s tropical heat and humidity stress the interior further.

The service runs daily. It departs Gambir at 08:00 and returns from Cianjur at 16:00. Tickets range from Rp100,000 to Rp300,000 via KAI Access. This restoration proves historical assets can operate reliably in a modern service environment.
